As you may know, I’ve been working hard on a few things over here at GOOD. We’ve just published the Los Angeles issue of the magazine—which was co-art directed by one Keith Scharwath—and we’re launching a new local community for GOOD called GOOD LA. To keep up with what we’re up to, you can now follow GOOD LA on Facebook and Twitter.
As a way of celebrating all that, we’re throwing a big three-day event this weekend at Atwater Crossing, a massive new creative space in Atwater Village. We’ve tapped dozens of local groups who are moving LA forward and asked them to share their skills, talents, and expertise with the GOOD audience. What a lineup! Friday night, we’ve got eight designers tackling LA problems in the latest iteration of GOOD Design. Saturday we’ve got a giant pop-up community center which includes local vendors, a community sharing center where you can swap everything from baked goods and used electronics to vintage clothes and homemade jam, workshops ranging from breadbaking to urban beekeeping to live screenprinting, and neighborhood adventures on foot or bike. And all that’s followed by an awesome party presented by our friends at the new literary journal Slake. On Sunday, we’re holding a book club meeting over a freeway (no kidding) and having live music at an after party for CicLAvia.
Join us for some or all of the weekend to meet some of our favorite LA people. You can get more information and RSVP for all the events here. I’ll be there the whole weekend (of course) so I hope to see you there!
